Reece Delaney Like some of my other fav aussie artists like Rory Cooke (gaslight radio, eliza band) Jamie Hutchings (bluebottle kiss, infinity broke) Paul Wood is a "songwriters songwriter" Always pushing forward under different guises to create interesting songs. Looking forward to more of this band phase of edible vampires. The musicianship & craft is elite. An inspiration!

about

The brainchild of Paul Francis Wood (Red Jezebel, The Ghost Hotel), Good News Now We Can Eat All The Vampires are releasing their single "The Miner" on Friday, March 1 2024.
Mesmerizing arrangements underscore this epically lush folk tune from a band the also features some of WA's favorite original musicians.

lyrics

The Miner

And so, I dug my stupid hole
I shoveled fifty feet straight down
I didn’t really have much else to do that day
So, I thought I may as well just dig around

Somehow, I broke earth out in India
It could be Nepal, or Pakistan?
It seemed as foreign as the place I’d just dug from
And their language that I don’t quite understand

I can’t look up when I dig down
I’m too old and I grew tired of that motion
And I can’t pick up on what you throw down
I’m not slow, I just need time to think it over

And so, I dug another hole
But this time I aimed up at the sun
I figured If I ever stood a chance
I just might be able to get things done

Once more, I missed and I hit Saturn
I cut my hands upon its rings
I didn’t think that I could ever dig that far
Far enough to hear these planets sing

I can’t look up when I dig down
I’m too old and I’ve grown tired of that motion
And I can’t pick up on what you throw down
I’m not slow, I just need time to think it over

And now I lay here on the floor
Arms akimbo, and chagrin
That this is not how I’d imagined my day
Would pan out, having only just begun…
